Technology Transfer in the Space Economy: a focus on Italy

Italy is second in Europe for volume of investments in relation to GDP (0.55%) and has a National Strategic Plan that will bring 4.7 billion euros to the sector. These are the numbers of the Italian Space Economy that confirm its enormous potential and that could lead to a revolution similar to that of the internet and digital in the new millennium.
Today, the Space Economy, or rather the value chain that generates innovative products and services starting from space infrastructures and digital technologies, is no longer just the frontier of technological innovation, but also of business innovation, with important opportunities for companies, institutions and citizens.
The Space Economy is now recognized by the OECD as one of the most effective engines of economic growth, well beyond the boundaries of the space sector in the strict sense. Innovation is the key to maintain and strengthen national competitiveness and is pursued through initiatives for the development of enabling technologies, even radically innovative ones, favoring opportunities from other sectors, or seizing challenges and opportunities offered by future missions in national and international contexts.
How can innovations and research results be leveraged to make knowledge and technologies accessible to commercial, industrial, social, or research sectors other than those from which they originated?
How can we encourage technology transfer practices, open innovation strategies, the role of venture capital and private financing to enable the true evolution of the system?
The round table will therefore discuss how to create new business models and dynamics in the Space Economy where Research supports Industry to allow the latter to compete in the global scenario.
