At a time of growing attention towards European industrial competitiveness, energy security and the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors, advanced biofuels represent a readily available, scalable and technologically mature solution, fully consistent with the principle of technological neutrality.

Against this backdrop, building on a collaboration initiated in 2022 to promote the principle of technological neutrality in European and national climate, energy and industrial policies, TEHA Group and Eni have launched a new joint initiative. It is designed to accelerate the deployment of advanced biofuels by bringing together institutions, industry and end users within a high-level platform built around a shared strategic vision.

To this end, the initiative will deliver a high-level Strategic Study, integrating the outcomes of the thematic Working Tables into a coherent and evidence-based analysis.

As part of this effort, the next Working Table will take place on 9 July 2026 and will focus on feedstock availability, sustainability and supply chain resilience. The confidential online discussion will provide a platform for an in-depth exchange on the role of waste and residues, intermediate crops and agricultural feedstocks in supporting the scale-up of advanced biofuels.

The discussion will also explore the contribution of the agricultural and agri-food sectors to the development of competitive and resilient feedstock value chains, assess the implications of the upcoming European consultation on Implementing Regulation 996, and examine how certification and traceability systems can evolve to strengthen the sustainability, transparency and security of biofuel supply chains.
