Innovation ecosystems: from research to business in technological discontinuity

c/o Fondazione Bruno Kessler Via Sommarive, 18 - 38123 POVO (TN)

In a context marked by increasingly disruptive innovations, companies are required to navigate profound technological transformations and develop the capabilities needed to manage growing complexity. In this scenario, structured collaboration with the research ecosystem has become a strategic asset, enabling organisations to anticipate emerging trends, access cutting-edge expertise and generate tangible value. The roundtable, hosted at the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK), will provide an opportunity to discuss the evolving needs of companies and the concrete benefits of partnerships between research and industry. With contributions from Ferruccio Resta, the discussion will focus on the role of innovation ecosystems in times of technological discontinuity, featuring successful technology transfer case studies and highlighting the importance of bridging skills—professionals able to align the languages, timelines and priorities of research and business. The initiative will be complemented by a guided tour of FBK’s Clean Room, a technological excellence facility normally closed to the public and involved in the European IPCEI project, part of the EU Chips Act strategy to strengthen Europe’s technological sovereignty in advanced semiconductors. The experience will conclude with a networking lunch, accompanied by demonstrations on artificial intelligence and robotics, providing concrete insights into emerging technologies.
