In order to meet current and future challenges, the European Union and its Member States (including Italy) need to focus on enabling a multidimensional transition that is capable of enabling the sustainable digitisation of the economy and society in order to promote sustainable, green, inclusive and equitable growth. This transition is one of the major systemic challenges of the coming years, the success of which is closely intertwined with the digitisation processes. From this point of view, technological and digital advances have enabled the deployment of numerous services and technologies related to the energy transition and which have a high potential in the coming years. However, in the light of the current “perma-crisis” situation, security in the use of data and digital technologies becomes crucial: the progressive digitisation of essential services for societies and the economy makes cybersecurity a strategic necessity. In general, digital-related dangers concern not only technological dependence and the loss of strategic autonomy of the State, but also man-made threats, in which human error is added to the initiatives of malicious actors: overall, it is estimated that cybercrime activity generates an annual cost of about 6 trillion dollars (about 1% of world GDP) and is set to increase to 10.5 trillion dollars by 2025. What are the opportunities for the Italian corporate fabric? What gaps need to be filled to ensure that our country is ready for the cybersecurity challenge? What best practices can act as a driving force for change in the Italian ecosystem? The meeting will feature a round table discussion, in which all participants are invited to intervene and contribute actively.
