RESERVED MEETING: Net-zero technologies for a competitive and secure Europe
To effectively support the energy transition policies promoted by the European Union and achieve the ambitious net-zero goals of the Green Deal, it is essential to strengthen European technological supply chains and foster the development of a robust internal market in the renewable energy sector and the dedicated net-zero technologies. Europe boasts a leadership position in numerous key technologies – particularly in power electronics and electrical engineering – which represent strategic assets to be protected and enhanced. In an increasingly complex geopolitical context, it is crucial to adopt targeted policies to safeguard their competitiveness and strategic autonomy. Protecting and enhancing European supply chains is not only indispensable to ensure that climate and energy goals are supported by industrial and technological development, but it is also a priority for the security of the EU and its energy infrastructures, to ensure that technological components meet stringent standards of reliability, safety, and cybersecurity.
