PHYGITAL MEETING Zero Carbon Community - The future of the chemical and refining sectors: needs and opportunities for decarbonisation.

CONFINDUSTRIA SIRACUSA Viale Scala Greca, 282 Siracusa - 96100 SIRACUSA

The macroeconomic importance of the chemical and refining sectors requires identifying mature and accessible decarbonization levers to maintain competitiveness globally. Consequently, it is essential to exploit all technological solutions capable of concretely accelerating the energy transition process of these hard-to-abate sectors, which harbor the potential for reconfiguration into green supply chains. To initiate a structured debate regarding the development prospects of the chemical and refining industries within the broader context of international value chain reconfiguration and decarbonization processes, The European House - Ambrosetti's Zero Carbon Community partners will convene in Siracusa on May 16th, alongside various national and international stakeholders.

The restricted Working Table will serve as an opportunity to outline the regulatory and market context, as well as the technological options for sustainability in these sectors. More specifically, the meeting will focus not only on the importance of maintaining competitiveness throughout the whole value chain, but also on the assets and know-how the two sectors have to develop value-added products, such as e-fuels, biofuels, and new chemical compounds.

In particular, the meeting will also be a moment to discuss the importance of promoting a supply chain logic, as well as to address the competitive dynamics emerging at the international level.

Chairman: Alessandro Viviani (Associate Partner InnoTech Hub, The European House - Ambrosetti).
